Whisk Broom
Workshop
Join Amanda Ma for a hands on workshop exploring the traditional craft of broom making.
Working with broomcorn and simple binding techniques, each participant will learn to shape, bind, and finish their own functional whisk broom by hand. We will explore the history of broom making, the symbolism brooms have carried across cultures, and ways to adorn and personalize our finished pieces.
Long used as an everyday household tool, the broom also carries meaning connected to cleansing, protection, and the tending of space. Through this workshop, we will return to the simple pleasure of making something useful with our own hands while considering the deeper meaning held within ordinary objects.
No previous experience is necessary. We will gather in a relaxed, supportive environment at a private residence in Midtown Tucson, with all materials provided. You will leave with your own handmade whisk broom to use and enjoy in your home and rituals.
